Since 2004, the National American Indian Veterans, Inc. (NAIV) has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of Native American Veterans across the United States. With a focus on advocacy, education, and community support, we strive to ensure that the rights, benefits, and needs of our Native veterans are not only recognized but actively supported.
In early 2024, the National American Indian Veterans, Inc. (NAIV) reached a significant milestone when Congress granted a federal charter, officially recognizing our organization and the vital contributions of Native American veterans. This landmark achievement represents a long-fought victory for advocacy and provides an influential platform for NAIV to continue championing the needs and rights of American Indian veterans across the country.
For two decades, NAIV has worked tirelessly to gain this recognition, and the charter represents not just the culmination of those efforts but the beginning of a new era for our community. This prestigious acknowledgment strengthens our ability to advocate on behalf of Native veterans and enhances our mission to provide support, representation, and resources.
The federal charter empowers NAIV to:
Advocate more effectively for veterans' rights, benefits, and resources on both a national and local level.
Unite Native American veterans from across 14 regions under a nationally recognized organization.
Promote social welfare, educational opportunities, cultural values, and traditional healing for veterans and their families.
Increase representation and ensure Native American veterans' voices are heard in policy and legislative discussions.
NAIV is now part of a select group of organizations that have been formally recognized by Congress for their dedication and service. This charter enables us to build stronger partnerships, influence policy, and drive meaningful change for Native veterans.
While we celebrate this historic moment, our work is far from over. NAIV remains committed to its mission to support American Indian veterans through continued advocacy, community programs, and by ensuring that the benefits earned by our veterans are delivered and accessible.
Join us in our journey to empower, support, and uplift Native American veterans across the United States. Together, we honor their legacy and ensure their contributions are recognized, both now and for generations to come.
